Boston sobresale en el Modelo ONU CNG
|

Una destacada participación tuvieron los estudiantes de Séptimo Grado, Juan Antonio Vidal (OIT), Juan Felipe Lozano (SOCHUM) y Alonso Zamora (Peace Building), y de Undécimo Grado, Julián España (Security Council), Daniela Mahecha (Legal Internacional), María Sighinolfi, Tatiana Camayo (UNHR) y María José Gómez (Legal); en el XXX Modelo de las Naciones Unidas que se desarrolló del 1° al 3 de febrero en el Colegio Nueva Granada.

En las diferentes comisiones, nuestra delegación defendió los intereses y políticas de la India. El resultado de las intervenciones y la argumentación de cada delegado fueron muy positivos en cada una de las respectivas comisiones.
La preparación de este grupo, en la investigación y redacción de sus papeles de posición, se desarrolló desde el espacio del Club de Exploración, con la asesoría y trabajo de todos los profesores de Sociales del Bachillerato (Juan Jesús Durán y Yeimmy Ramos).

Liceo Boston excels at CNG´s MUN

The participating seventh and eleventh grade students: Juan Antonio Vidal (ILO), Juan Felipe Lozano (SOCHUM) and Alonso Zamora (Peace building), and from eleventh grade: Julián Españana (Secutiry Council), Daniel Mahecha (Legal Internacional), María Sighinolfi, Tatiana Camayo (UNHR), and María José Gómez (Legal), had an outstanding performance at CNG´s MUN. The event took place from February 1st to February 3rd at Colegio Nueva Granada.
In the various committees, our delegations defended the interests and policies of India. The result of the student’s interventions and arguments was extremely positive in each of the respective committees.
The group´s preparation which included research and paper writing took place in the Exploration Club with the advice and support from all the Social Studies High School Department. (Juan Jesús Durán and Yeimmy Ramos)

Que tus sueños no se detengan

Con la participación de 14 universidades del país, el jueves 2 de febrero se llevó a cabo la IV Feria de Universidades del Liceo Boston.
|
|
Durante el evento, los estudiantes de 9° a 11° tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer las propuestas educativas de las universidades; Los Andes, La Sabana, Javeriana, El Rosario, Tadeo Lozano, Sergio Arboleda, El Bosque, Piloto, EAN, San Buenaventura, La Salle College, Unisanitas y Belgrano de Argentina.

Paralelamente a la Feria se desarrollaron una serie de conferencias sobre proyecto de vida y decisión profesional, entrenamiento de entrevista y la importancia del inglés en la vida universitaria.

IV Universities Fair
Unleash Your Dreams

On February 2nd the school held the IV Universities fair, where students had the opportunity to meet 14 different universities within the country.
During the event, students from 9th to 11th grade were able to discuss and meet the universities´ educational proposals. Some of the participating educational institutions are: Los Andes, La Sabana, Javeriana, El Rosario, Tadeo Lozano, Sergio Arboleda, El Bosque, Piloto, EAN, San Buenaventura, La Salle College, Unisanitas and Belgrano de Argentina.
Parallel to the fair, we also hosted different conferences and career purpose workshops, interview training sessions, and workshops on the importance of English within university life.

Which Project Will Have Been More Successful? |
STUDENTS´ OPINIONS |
By the year 2025, the Russians expect to have a six-person team on their way to Mars.
The Russians hope that the American agency NASA and the European Space Agency(ESA) will work together on this project. Two spaceships that can fly the crew to Mars and back will have to be built. These spaceships will enable the crew to remain on Mars for as long as two months.
The cost of the trip will be approximately $20 billion, but the Russians feel that the money will have been spent to answer extremely important questions about whether or not there is, in fact, life on Mars.

The Russian´s project will have been more successful by arriving to Mars, they will surely have gotten higher machine´s technology and spaceships will have had sophisticated structures. By the end of the research The Russians will have discovered how our survival on Mars will be like. (Sebastian Sendoya and Camila Aza.)
The project that will have most likely been successful is the first one, because having faster spaceships will have allowed us travel to places that are further away in less time ( Juan Ramirez- Diego Castillo)
We think that by the year 2025 the NASA will have been the most successful space agency because it will have been the one with the highest experience and higher quality technology. (Sofia Beltran- Maria Guerra)
Exploring Mars will have not satisfied our expectations, so we as a team, will have preferred to explore farthest distances in order to find any possibility to enter to another galaxy. Having in mind the technology that will have been developed by the year 2025, our project ,we think, will have been the most successful, the most interesting and specially the most worth the money we will have spent on it! LA IMPORTANCIA DEL AFECTO
|
|
|
 |
Desde mi experiencia pedagógica considero que el afecto es una puerta que nos abre a las relaciones interpersonales, hacia el conocimiento y empatía con nuestros semejantes; es un valor que me ha servido para aprender, desaprender, valorar al otro sin prejuicios y me ha enriquecido laboral y personalmente.

Pienso que es una forma increíble de acercarse a los niños, de verlos realmente, de conocer sus gustos, sus sentimientos y sus miedos; es una herramienta y un medio por el cual se ayuda a superar dificultades de diferente índole y a desarrollar valores importantes para la vida, así como el logro y el cultivo de habilidades y destrezas físicas e intelectuales.
¡Un niño feliz es un niño en potencia!.

Un gesto que vale más que muchas palabras

Un sábado Jesús va a la casa de unos amigos con sus primeros discípulos y allí realiza su primera curación. Devuelve la salud a la suegra de Pedro, como signo de la vida que ha venido a anunciar. Para Jesús es más importante devolver la vida, la serenidad, la alegría a una persona en el momento oportuno, así sea en día prohibido por la ley.
Jesús la toma de la mano en un gesto entrañable y humano que refleja su estilo acogedor y la libera de la fiebre. Luego la levanta expresando resurrección. Inmediatamente ella “se puso a servirles”, expresando así que la liberación de la esclavitud ha acontecido tanto en su cuerpo como en su espíritu. Un gesto así vale más que muchas palabras. En la suegra de Pedro está representada nuestra dimisión corporal, con frecuencia expuesta a distintas esclavitudes. En lo más recóndito de nuestro ser sentimos que algo no funciona bien, que no somos buenos del todo, que hay raíces de egoísmo, de soberbia, de codicia. Y hasta allí puede llegar el Señor para sanarnos.

Todos necesitamos la mano sanadora de Jesús, que en aquella tarde extendió sobre la suegra de Pedro. Sólo libres de las fiebres y esclavitudes y desde una vida nueva y serena, podemos servir a Dios y a nuestros hermanos. |

One Saturday, Jesus goes to the home of some friends with his first disciples and there he made his first healing. He restores health to Peter’s mother-in-law, as a sign of the life He has come to announce. For Jesus is really important to return life, serenity, joy to a person at the right time, though is the day prohibited by the law.
Jesus takes her by the hand in an endearing and human gesture which reflects His cozy style and releases from her fever. He then lifts her up expressing resurrection. Immediately she "began to serve them", expressing that the liberation of slavery has befallen both her body and her spirit. A gesture is well worth more than many words. Our body resignation, often exposed to different chains is represented in Peter’s mother-in-law of. In the most hidden of our self, we feel that something doesn't work well, that we are not good at all, there are roots of selfishness, pride, greed. And there may be the Lord to heal us.
We all need the healing hand of Jesus, who in that afternoon extended on Peter’s mother-in-law. Only free from fever and chains and from a new and serene life, we can serve God and our brothers.

Día Mundial Contra el Cáncer
|

Cada 4 de febrero, se celebra el Día Mundial contra el Cáncer.
La OMS (Organización Mundial de la Salud) apoya a la Unión Internacional contra el Cáncer, buscando reducir las muertes por esta enfermedad y mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes afectados por esta patología.
De acuerdo con ésta organización mundial, el cáncer es una de las principales causas de mortalidad en todo el mundo y que si no se llevan a cabo acciones para mitigar el impacto de esta enfermedad, 84 millones de personas morirán por su causa entre el 2005 y el 2015. |

“Cáncer” es el término que se emplea para un grupo de enfermedades que tienen en común, la producción de células malignas, caracterizadas por su crecimiento y división fuera de control en cualquier parte del cuerpo, dando origen a tumores. Estas células pueden invadir el tejido circundante del órgano afectado y a veces propagarse por vía sanguínea o linfática a otras partes del cuerpo distantes del tumor primario, produciendo lo que se conoce como metástasis.
Un gran porcentaje de cánceres pueden curarse con cirugía, radioterapia o quimioterapia, si son detectados en una fase temprana.
Según la OMS un 40% de los cánceres se pueden prevenir llevando una vida sana, consumiendo una dieta saludable, y eliminando el consumo del tabaco, ya que el tabaquismo es la principal causa evitable de cáncer en el mundo.

Each 4 February, the World Day against cancer is celebrated. The WHO (World Health Organization) supports the International Union against cancer, seeking to reduce deaths from the disease and improve the quality of patients’ life affected by this pathology.
WHO says that cancer is one of the main causes of mortality in the world, and that if prompt actions are not carried out to mitigate the impact of this disease, 84 million people will die because of it between 2005 and 2015.
"Cancer" is the term used for a group of diseases which have in common the production of malignant cells, characterized by their growth and division out of control in any part of the body, giving rise to tumors. These cells can invade the surrounding tissue of the organ affected and sometimes spread via blood or lymphatic ways to other parts of the body away from the primary tumor, producing what is known as metastasis.
A large percentage of cancers can be cured with surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy, if detected at an early stage.

Es para nosotras muy gratificante saber que contamos con entidades tan prestigiosas como a las que ustedes pertenecen, todos los días le damos gracias a Dios por haber puesto estos angelitos guardianes en nuestro camino, todo el año 2011 nos hemos sentido acompañadas, respaldadas por ustedes.

THE “MILLENNIUM" GENERATION
|
|
|
According to José Rafael Prada Ramirez,(Doctor in Psychology).The "Millennium" Generation or generation "Y" includes people born in the last decade of the last century which today are adolescents and young people.
They have had to live the "boom" of communications without cable or "Wireless" (mobile phone, broadband internet, Xbox…) and almost without limits. Its motto: "I give my life for an iPod!". They enjoy all the advantages and new technology and the economic pampering comforts from their parents, who are richer than their ancestors. They are hard to be to understood, attracted, seduced and have them persevering in a project. Technology is not a tool for them, it's their life. Authority is for them the same as competition.
They are people who live and enjoy the "present moment" without much reference to the past or to the future, they are fragmented, individualistic and relativistic. They enjoy great creativity, they are open and glad…
Our challenge as adults today is trying to understand the phenomenon of this generation immersed in this scientific and technological progress. The work is to build an environment of trust, love and optimism, instilling the values of responsibility and fraternity.

With a receptive and understanding attitude we will achieve a fraternal life!
